Graphic Design Trend: Organic-Feel Elements

Smooth edges and neutral tones are what sum up organic feel graphic designs. These elements create a feeling of sustainability and authenticity, focusing on clean branding. Clean and uncomplicated visuals is another element to this graphic design trend. Rounded or circular typography is welcomed and adds to the organic feeling rather than the harsher edged text in the past. The Organic-Feel graphic design trend and its elements can be used in a number of different ways, one of them being for business. Since neutral earthy tones are most popular in branding designs, the organic feel trend is perfect.

When I made my own Organic-Feel Element graphic design I started out by choosing a well-known neutral color, tan (HEX #a37f56). Then I chose an image from Pexels.com (Ch, 2017) that displayed some beautiful shadows. I chose an image with shadows casted by plants. I then took this image and layed it over the tan square. In the Layers panel, there is a drop down menu that has filters to edit layers. To blend the tan square and the shadow image together, I chose the filter “Screen”, making the tan color be the plants’ shadow color instead of the darker color. I thought the blend of the plant shadows and the tan color brought an organic feel to the design. I then moved the shadow image up about 10%, making the tan color peak out at the bottom. I erased the shadow image at the bottom and drew a paper ripping-like texture over the top of the seam of the freshly erased image and tan background. I added a shadow effect to make the paper rip look three-dimensional with the brush tool just turning down the brush stroke opacity. The last element of the organic-feel graphic design was the round typography layer. I chose the Adobe font ‘Youngblood’ in white and added a drop shadow from the effects menu.
